Well since my last post, life has been quite a trip to say the least. Its been about a full year since I last made a post. I had gotten a decent job when I returned from Spain, to Durango, Colorado. It was for a growing credit card processing company. It had good benefits and the work atmosphere wasn't bad. I had known a lot of people that worked there, and wasn't sure whether to deem that a good or bad thing. I feel like I still am judged today for my yesterdays actions. Anyone who really knows me knows that i am far from the person I was as a teenager and into my early college years. I got that sense there and maybe it was totally wrong and unwarranted.
I was glad to have gotten the job, I had really planned to take it far if I could. I tried to get good at eating shit, because that was the main part of the job and I knew it. But I could only take so much and it seemed the calls were becoming more and more frequent and it started to stress me out for my call reviews. Then my sister wound up in the hospital because there was something wrong with her arm from where they were doing some dialysis surgery on her. That spurred me to try and do something about it.
At this time also, i had a little cousin in California get hit by a car on his motorcycle. I started to panic, i took days off work just trying to breathe and figure my next step, if any. I decided the best thing would be to take time off and get my head together. In the process, I got fired from that job, my sisters surgery went ok and my little cousin was fighting for his life in cali.
On top of all this, I got news from someone that a girl I had kind of been seeing was getting married. she happened to be my recent x. We were in one of those weird phases stupid and immature couples go through with the on and off bs, and what a fitting ending it came to. Ive had 2 serious relationships with a woman in my 26 years on earth; the first ran off and got pregnant and this one ran off and got married, both in a time frame where it seemed inappropriate. But oh well, thats life I guess. Now it will be a long time before I take that third risk with love. I am extremely untrustworthy of women when it comes to serious relationships and I dont really care to run the risk of being hurt like that again for a long time.
I really liked the house in which I was staying. I was very comfortable there and it was my own shell, my own foundation which I could run to and practice my spanish guitar, or paint, or think, or breathe. Those places have come few and far in between for me since I was 13. I have basically been living out of a back pack and or duffle bags for an extended period of time, even into right now. I hate it, but apparently its a necessary thing in my life according to gods plan for me. Life right now is not in my control, I kind of have to go where the wind blows me and not ask too much and try and work to get back to where I was at the beginning of the year.
So, I made the decision to move to California to be closer to my fathers side and help out where I could with my little cousin and the family as well as try to get my career started somewhere doing something with my degree in international business. I figured more opportunity out that way and I had more business contacts with my family and friends of family. So i packed my shit from Durango and got the hell out of there, hoping never to return from all the scars and bullshit I had on my heart and soul from there. Got on the train from Gallup to Victorville, CA to be picked up by my uncle and headed to my grandmothers.
I had to figure out what was going on with my little cousin whom was in the accident. He was doing some rehab from his brain injury and physical injuries in Orange in a godsend place called healthbridge. I spend a month or so roughly with him, trying to help him where I could to encourage him to be strong and patient. I was literally part of a miracle and got to see my cousin come out of something like that. This upcoming week he'l be able to walk with his high school class just a few short months after the injury. That is going to be an extraordinary day. I was there for him and his mom and family when i could, day or night. It was hard, very hard, but certainly worth it all in the end. Now I am able to be able to chill with him and talk with him and do things with him like we used to when i lived there nearly a decade ago and he was a little dude. Its almost as if I never left and we never skipped a beat.
Ever since, life has been great. I have been able to do several things since moving out there and many opportunities are there for me. I just have to get my act together to be able to enable myself to do things more readily and easily. I have been able to do what I love most, and that is travel, as of late. I am on a stretch where I have been to Huntington beach, Durango, CO; Denver, CO; Fort Collins, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Los Angeles, CA; Lake Havasu,AZ; and now back to Denver and Fort Collins to return to LA/victorville this weekend. So I haven't been in the same place for 2 weeks in a few months. I recall another stretch in my life like this when i was in Europe. In a few months I had went to Madrid, Malaga, Barcelona, Ronda, Granada, Sevilla, Toledo, Nerja, Rome Italy, Paris France, and Fes Morocco all in a few months every weekend somewhere different.
I have been able to get closer to my dads side of the family and also saw my dad off to take steps to help himself out with some of his skeletons in his closet. I am very glad he is doing it and I hope and pray it changes him for the better. I know he doesn't really know how to be a dad and he doesn't have anything to offer me as being mine, but I am not concerned with those things. I want him to think better, once he thinks better he can do better, and once he thinks and does better, everything else will fall into place. I wont see him again for 5 more months, but hopefully it will have been worth it. So there is a positive affect, hopefully, that I have left in that desert. Anyone that knows Nick the nightmare Bettini or Gary the terror Rippee knows him making a change for the better would be awesome for the world.
On another note, I won an art contest in denver, which is why I am here now. I won 500 dollars, I did a radio interview and also will have a 2 page spread in a magazine called the mile high life about me. It was cool. They also threw a little party for me and those who voted for me as well. It turned out to be a great time and maybe something good will come about the exposure. It was only my 2nd real piece I have done. I did my mural of hispanic culture at my college and that was my first. That wasn't for any competition or anything, I was just asked to do that one. It seems since I have graduated college, art is the only thing I have been able to really do anything with. This international business stuff hasn't worked out quite as well as ive hoped. But maybe I can tie that in with art somehow one day and do art and take care of the international business side as well. Id love to paint more, I just dont have the place to go home and do it at. Id like to play more guitar, but same issue. Ill get back to my groove soon hopefully. I am working on getting my license to sell insurance as well as to be a loan officer, but its taking time and requires an initial investment, which I just dont have right now. Id really love to get back to Spain this summer to do the camino de santiago, as I have promised god I would do when he helped my sister and cousin in their health. We shall see. In the meantime, I hope you have enjoyed my post and look forward to the next one. Any feedback, positive or negative, would be openly welcomed. Thanks
